Materials & Manufacturing

What is the holder made of?

ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate). It's a UV-stable engineering thermoplastic built for outdoor and marine use. Same family as ABS, but it doesn't yellow or get brittle in the sun the way ABS does.

What does "FDM Manufactured" mean?

FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) is a professional manufacturing process. Engineering-grade thermoplastic is fused together at high temperature to build the finished part. The same general process is used in aerospace and medical prototyping.

Modern manufacturing in the USA looks very different than it did even 20 years ago. Today, manufacturers have to be ultra flexible, fast, and able to adapt rapidly to address customer needs. That's why we chose the FDM process. It lets us iterate on designs quickly, run small batches, and ship a better product than the molded plastic alternatives.

Will it hold up in the sun and saltwater?

Yes. ASA was developed for outdoor use. It handles UV, salt, heat, and rain. We run our own gear on our own boats in Florida. If something doesn't last, we redesign it.

Will it warp on a hot boat deck?

No. ASA stays dimensionally stable well past the temperatures a boat deck reaches in direct sun. We test in Florida summer conditions before any product ships.

Where are these made?

Pensacola, Florida. Designed by us, manufactured by us, shipped by us.

Compatibility

Will this fit my remote, motor, or gear?

Each product page lists exact compatibility. Our remote holders are model-specific because every remote has its own footprint. If you're not sure, send us the model number and we'll confirm before you order.

Can I use this on a saltwater boat?

Absolutely. ShoreWright products are designed for saltwater from the ground up. The ASA holder body is UV-resistant and saltwater-safe, and we use 304 stainless steel screws that won't rust. We run our own gear on our own boats here on the Gulf Coast. A fresh water rinse after each trip is all the maintenance you need.

Do I need a suction cup mount, or is one included?

Check the listing. Some products ship with a suction cup, others are sold as the holder only so you can choose your mount. Suction cups are also sold separately.

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean my holder?

Fresh water rinse after every trip. Mild soap if it needs it. Skip the solvents, acetone, and abrasive scrubbers. They can dull the surface or attack the plastic.

My suction cup won't stick. What's wrong?

If you pump the lever and the colored indicator band stays visible, the cup hasn't pulled a full seal. The fix is almost always surface prep:

  • Clean the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Wax, polish, salt residue, and sunscreen will all break a seal.
  • Make sure the surface is smooth and non-porous. Glossy gelcoat, glass, and polished fiberglass are ideal. Textured, painted, or vinyl-wrapped surfaces will not hold.
  • Try a different spot on the boat. Even a small flaw in the gelcoat can prevent a seal.
  • Re-seat the cup. Press it down flush, then pump the lever until the indicator band disappears.

If you've worked through all of that and still can't get a seal, email us at support@shorewright.com and we'll get it sorted.

How long will my ShoreWright product last?

The holder body is built to last. Every ShoreWright product carries a lifetime warranty against fading and warping. If yours fades or warps under normal use, we'll replace it.

The suction cups we ship are industrial-grade, built for marine duty, and will hold up season after season with basic care.
